ACH bank payments let riders in the United States pay from their US bank account at checkout, next to cards and wallets. This is for administrators of US stables.
This feature is available on certain plans
ACH bank payments are available on the Pro and Ultimate plans for stables in the United States. Our team sets ACH up for you, so message us to get started.
New features like this aren't part of earlier plans (from before September 2026). Message our team to get access.
Before you start
Your stable takes online payments through Stripe: see Start taking online payments.
Once our team has set ACH up, the ACH settings appear in Settings > Payments.
How ACH payments work
ACH (US bank account) transfers take 1-4 business days to settle. Hopoti confirms the rider's booking straight away, without waiting for the money to arrive. If the rider's bank returns the payment, Hopoti cancels the booking and emails the rider.
Riders can pay Membership invoices by ACH too. For what riders see at checkout, see Ways to pay.
Choose how close to a lesson riders can pay by ACH
Bank payments take 1-4 business days to settle, so you can stop riders choosing ACH for lessons that start soon:
Go to Settings > Payments.
Under Payment settings, enter a number of days in Minimum days before the event to allow ACH payments.
Select Save under the field.
When a lesson starts sooner than this, a rider who selects ACH is asked to choose another payment method, and can still book. Purchases without an event date, such as Stablecards, aren't limited. Enter 0 to allow ACH for all upcoming events.
Set a lower booking fee for bank payments
If you pass a booking fee on to riders, you can charge less for bank payments, which cost you less than cards. A lower bank rate steers riders towards paying by bank.
In Settings > Payments, open Booking fee and tick Add a booking fee to the rider's total.
Fill in the Card and wallet payments and Bank (ACH) payments rates, each as a percentage, a fixed amount or both. An empty rate means no fee for that method.
Check What a rider pays on an example price (one line per method) and select Save.
When the rates differ, riders who can pay by ACH also see the ACH price, as long as the lesson starts after your minimum days. A different fee per payment method counts as a surcharge, which is restricted in parts of the US, so check your local rules. For more on booking fees, see Pass a booking fee on to riders.
Stripe verification
Riders can pay by ACH only once Stripe has verified your account. Open the section that fits your situation.
If your Stripe account is not verified yet
If your Stripe account is not verified yet
You can set up the ACH settings and the bank booking fee before Stripe has verified your account. Until then the fields show a note that bank (ACH) payments start once your Stripe account is verified, and riders don't see ACH at checkout.
If we ask you to verify your Stripe details again
If we ask you to verify your Stripe details again
Some existing US businesses need to verify with Stripe again before they can take ACH payments.
Our team turns on a verification button in Settings > Payments.
Complete the Stripe verification: it's the same form as the first time and takes about 15 minutes.
Under Bank account information, fill in the Account Number and Routing Number (9 characters) carefully and select Save. Payouts go to this account.
Our team then switches your account over. Until then, your other payment methods keep working and only ACH isn't available. Your payment history stays in the Archive, and the Stripe views there start fresh with the new account.
If riders don't see ACH at checkout
Check these in order:
Your Stripe account isn't verified yet: the ACH fields show a note about it.
The lesson starts too soon: it's within your Minimum days before the event to allow ACH payments.
ACH isn't set up for your stable yet, or you're waiting for the switch-over after verifying again: message our team.
Still stuck? Message our team in the chat with the lesson's name and date and what the rider sees at checkout.
