🗓️ Cancel a booking and get your credit

Cancel a lesson in your calendar, see what credit you get back, and what to do if it's too late or no credit appears.

Can't make a lesson, or need to reschedule? Cancel it in Hopoti so your stable can give the place to someone else. If you cancel in time, you usually get a credit for another lesson.

Good to know

Every lesson has a cancellation policy chosen by your stable. It says how many hours before the start you can cancel and still get a credit, for example 24 hours with Standard (24h). See How cancellation policies work.

Cancel a lesson

  1. Select My calendar in the top bar.

  2. Select the lesson. Its details open.

  3. Check the Cancellation policy. If the deadline has passed, you'll see Lesson cancel time has expired.

  4. Select Cancel booking and confirm.

The lesson disappears from your calendar and you get a cancellation confirmation by email. If you cancelled in time, your credit is ready to use straight away.

To give your place to someone else instead, use Transfer booking if your stable allows it: see Give a booking or Stablecard credits to someone else.

The details of a booked lesson in My calendar: company, course type, skill level, the date and time, the cancellation policy Flexible (12h), the participant and horse, the warning Lesson cancel time has expired, and the Cancel booking, Transfer booking and Close buttons.

What you get back

If you cancel in time, you get a one-time Stablecard with one credit for another lesson. A credit isn't money back. How long it's valid depends on how the lesson was paid:

How the lesson was paid

Your credit is valid

As part of a season

Until the end of the season

With a Stablecard

Until your original Stablecard expires

Any other way, for example as a single lesson

For 1 month from the date of the lesson

The stable cancelled the lesson and gave riders a credit

For 3 months

Your stable decides which lessons a credit can be used for, and can change how long any Stablecard is valid. For money back, see Can I get a refund?

Use your credit

Find your credit under Cards in the menu in the top-right corner, or on your stable's Booking page. Book a lesson as usual and pick Pay with Stablecard, before the credit's Valid until date.

Other situations

Open the one that matches yours:

If you cancel for your child

Your children's bookings are in your calendar too: log in to your own (parent) account and cancel them there. The credit goes to the account the lesson was booked for.

If the cancellation deadline has passed

Please still cancel, so your place goes to someone else and your stable knows you're not coming. You won't get a credit, unless your stable makes an exception: ask them directly.

If you booked a season or a camp

You can cancel single season lessons in My calendar, and cancelling in time gives a credit valid until the end of the season. A whole season or camp usually can't be cancelled or refunded: see Book a whole season or a camp.

If you chose to pay at the stable

With an offline payment method, such as cash on arrival, you can cancel only if your stable allows it for that method, and only before the deadline. The invoice is then removed automatically. Otherwise, contact your stable.

If the lesson is part of your Membership

You can't cancel a lesson that your Membership holds. When you try, Hopoti tells you the lesson is part of your Membership.

If you can't come one week, let your stable know: they can remove you from that date and give you a Stablecard credit. If your stable cancels the whole lesson and gives riders a credit, you get one too. These credits are valid for 3 months, and a cancelled lesson doesn't lower your monthly invoice.

To stop the lessons for good, give notice on your Memberships page in the menu in the top-right corner: see Join a monthly Membership.

If you can't cancel or didn't get a credit

Check these in order:

  • No Cancel booking button: log in to the account the lesson was booked for, or your parent account. A lesson that has started can't be cancelled.

  • The lesson is part of your Membership: Membership lessons can't be cancelled. Let your stable know if you can't come, or give notice to stop for good.

  • No credit after cancelling: check the account again, and that you cancelled before the deadline in the lesson's Cancellation policy. Your cancellation email shows when you cancelled.

  • The credit doesn't show when you book: a credit only works for the lessons your stable has chosen for it.

Still stuck? Your stable can check the booking and add a credit by hand. For technical problems, message our team in the chat with your stable's name and the lesson's name and date.
