📅 Create a lesson series and open it for booking

Set up a weekly lesson, choose how riders pay, and open it on your Booking page.

Create a weekly (or other repeating) lesson, choose how riders pay for it and open it on your Booking page. You need Administrator or Instructor permissions.

For bookings where riders choose the time themselves, such as arena hire or private lessons, set up a service instead: see Set up a bookable service.

Before you start

Set up your calendars and locations, instructors (Staff) and default cancellation policy (Rules) under Settings, and any Stablecards riders will pay with under Cards. New lessons pick these up.

Create the lesson

  1. Go to Events in the admin menu and select Add new event, or drag across the calendar from the start to the end of the first lesson. The Add event window opens.

  2. Fill in Event name and Event type, for example Riding lesson. Event description and a photo are optional.

  3. Check the Start date, Start time and End time.

  4. Switch on Recurring event, then set Repeat event (every week by default) and End repeat (after a number of lessons, or on a date).

  5. Pick the level under Select minimum rider skill and the number of places under Attendees. The level only guides riders unless you require confirmed skill levels (see Set up skill levels and confirm riders' levels).

  6. Check the Cancellation policy: your default is preselected.

  7. Choose the instructors under Select instructor(s), the calendars under Event calendar and the place under Event location.

Don't save yet: first choose how riders pay and open the lesson (next sections).

The Add event window filled in for a weekly lesson: Event name Beginners group, Mondays, Event type Riding lesson, a description, start date and times, Recurring event on with Every week and After 15, minimum rider skill Beginner, 6 attendees, Cancellation policy, Single lesson, Season and Stablecard switched on with prices in € and VAT 13.5, Event calendar Riding Lessons, Event location Indoor arena, the tag fields, Suitable Stablecards and Event open for bookings.

Choose how riders can pay

Under Lesson selling type, switch on one or more ways to buy the lesson (Single lesson and Stablecard are on by default). Most stables combine a season, single lessons and Stablecards:

Selling type

What riders can do

Single lesson

Buy one or more lessons of the series at the Single event price.

Season (some stables say term or course)

Buy every lesson of the series in one go at the Season price.

Stablecard

Buy one of your Stablecards while booking and use its credits straight away.

Free course (in the ▾ menu next to the selling types)

Book without paying. Use this instead of a zero price.

For each paid selling type, enter the price including tax and its tax rate under VAT % or TAX % (the label depends on your stable's country). The lowest price you can enter depends on your currency. If you pass a booking fee on to riders, the prices they see include it (see Pass a booking fee on to riders).

Even with every selling type switched off, riders can still book with Stablecards they already have, if the tags allow it.

Other ways to sell a lesson have their own articles:

Open the setup that matches your lesson:

If riders pay with Stablecards

To sell the lesson only with Stablecards, switch off Single lesson and Season.

Suitable Stablecards for this event lists the cards that can pay for the lesson (by default all of them). A card shown in red is suitable, but buying it is restricted with tags: only riders with the right tags can buy it.

If only some riders may book

Tags are on the Growth, Pro and Ultimate plans. Earlier plans (from before September 2026) include them too.

Under Tags – limit buying, remove All Users and add the tags of the riders who may book, for example your competition group. Only riders with one of these tags, or a Stablecard with one of them, can book it. Depending on your stable's settings, other riders see the lesson but can't book it, or don't see it at all. If only Stablecards with your tag should pay, remove All Stablecards too.

Tags are the most common reason a rider can't book: read Use tags to decide who can book and buy before you limit a lesson.

Open the lesson for booking

Under Event availability, choose:

  • Event open for bookings: riders can see and book the lesson.

  • Event locked: riders can see the lesson but can't book it yet.

  • Event hidden: only you and your staff see the lesson.

Riders you add to a lesson yourself always see it in their own calendar.

Select Add event to save. The series appears on your event calendar and on your Booking page, in the calendars you chose.

Tip: Setting up a new timetable? Create the lessons as Event hidden and check them, then open them for booking from the Events page: one at a time, by date or all at once.

If something doesn't look right

Check these in order:

  1. Riders see the lesson but can't book it: usually Tags – limit buying. Check that the rider, or their Stablecard, has one of the lesson's tags, and that places are free under Attendees.

  2. Riders can't see the lesson: check Event availability and that the lesson is in an Event calendar. Depending on your stable's settings, riders without one of the lesson's tags may not see it either.

  3. Riders can't choose Season: a lesson of the season is locked or hidden.

For more checks (booking closing times, the Registration Form, skill levels), see A rider can't book a lesson. Still stuck? Message our team with the lesson's name and date and the rider's name.

Change, extend or copy the lesson later

Open the lesson from the event calendar and select the Edit tab. See Change, extend or delete lessons in a series and Copy lessons to a new season.
